Mrs Lindblads's Class 2017 - 2018

Mrs Lindblad

Welcome to our Reception Class!

Our reception class is part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) we are a team of 2  reception classes with 3 members of staff. We all love coming to school and are very eager to learn lots of new things. We have lots of different areas in our classrooms, art areas and new outdoor area where can explore and learn in different ways.

Who helps us?

Mrs Lindblad, Mrs Millichap and Mrs Ogg are our class teachers and they are eager to find out what we enjoy and what we want to learn about. We learn through the Early Years Curriculum and have both inside and outdoor classrooms. We like our learning to be fun, active and interesting. All our grown ups watch us carefully and help us to grow and learn ready for Year 1.Most importantly, our families help us at home. They can see us using what we have learnt during school time at home and help us even more. Sometimes they see us do something extra special and add it to our online learning book,so that our teachers know what super children we have been at home.

What do we do in Reception?

In reception we learn through play as well as being guided by our helpful adults, so our classroom looks different from the others. We don't have as many tables to sit at because we are so busy 'doing' in our areas. Our classroom is split into different areas; we have a role play area where we can dress up and play pretend ; a construction area where we build and make with different materials; a reading area which is quite and we can read our favourite books by our favourite authors; a maths area in which we practice our number work; an investigation area where we can look at things very closely; a messy and creative area where we can make models, draw and paint ; a writing area to use our phonic knowledge to create our own stories... not to mention our new amazing outdoor area which is has lots of exciting outdoor equipment , a quiet reading area, roleplay, sensory area and a new bug garden. We use all of these everyday which is why we are so tired at the end of the day!

Reading books

Please make sure your child's reading books and record are in school every day. We recommend that you read with your child for a short time, every evening.

PE kit is needed in school every week. Your child will need to have named shorts and t-shirt in a named bag. We leave the PE kit in school for the whole half term and we send it home for a wash over the holidays. Our allocated PE time is on a Tuesday morning.

Useful websites.

There are a number of websites that can be accessed from home which will support your child's phonic knowledge.
