Mrs Henshall's class 2017 - 2018

Mrs Henshall

Welcome to our Summer Term!

We have had lovely weather this week and it has made us hope for a lovely summer with lots of outdoor learning opportunties.

Exciting news for this term is that we have our residential to Laches Wood on Wednesday May 2nd to Friday May 4th. Last year's residential was a huge success and all of the children surprised themselves with their courage and ability to try something new!

We also have our Class Assembly on Friday June 15th at 9AM - where we will share with you some of our learning from this year with maybe some singing, dancing and drama!

Finally we have Activity Week booked for Monday 9th July - every year this week amazes everyone with the expperiences we get to try - meeting the merekats, rock climbing the wall, learning circus tricks, orienteering, archery, pottery painting, disco dome, pond dipping, footgolf, assault courses and more...I have worked in Primary Education for over 15 years and have not known of another school that dedicates a week to this range of experiences! We are very lucky to have these experiences as a celebration of the amazing hard work and brilliant learning at the end of our academic year.

The first half term is PE athletics and after half term we have swimming - sorry I thought we were swimming first half I was so excited. I cannot wait to take the children swimming every Tuesday and watch them grow in confidence and ability in their swimming.

Our English this term is based around a topic of hats - we are using short stories to develop the sentence structure, grammar and spelling ina range of genres for our children using a range of drama activities, stories, short film/animations and actual hats. You will see on our termly curriculum overview that we are designing, creating and reviewing our own bread recipes in our British Bread Bake Off project. Any food tasters will be gladly welcomed!

As usual I would like to say a huge thank you to every parent, carer, family member and family friend that helps to support us in supporting your child to achieve their potential. My classroom curriculum is based around kindness and your children are so kind and thoughtful that they are real pleasure to teach and learn with. Thank you!
